There is no doubt that New Orleans has a rich Catholic history - well their football team is no different. The Saints have always had a close relationship with the Archdiocese of New Orleans. In fact when they were first choosing the name in 1967 they approached the Archdiocese to see if it would be sacrilegious - we obviously know how the Archdiocese answered. Alsothe current owner of the team, Mr. Tom Benson, has invited Archbishop Gregory Aymond, retired Archbishop Philip Hannan and two Dominican sisters as his personal guests.
