Today's 40 Days for Life update mentioned a situation that happened at a 40 days prayer vigil in Arkansas. A man showed up with an I love abortion sign. He told news reporters that were there that pro-life people incite hatred. The video that was broadcast on the news, shows a mom and her two children, and other pro-life people out side of this clinic, praying peacefully.
The idea that those who are pro-life incite violence is one of the claims of the pro-abortion movement. Carol, the woman that I wrote about in yesterday's post wrote that "members of anti-abortion groups do not have the right to advocate violemce against Planned Parenthood" She also claimed that anti-abortion groups encourage people like Scott Roeder who killed George Tiller.
Religious groups, legitimate religious groups, do NOT advocate violence agaisnt those who are pro-abortion. We just don't. Scott Roeder was wrong in killing George Tiller. Every single legitimate pro-life group said that. Scott Roeder, like George Tiller and Planned Parenthood, believed that he had the right to decide who lives and who dies. They are wrong, they do not have that right.
I should also add that if a pro-abortionist wants to bring up the issue of violence they should also be willing to discuss violence directed at people who are pro-life. Last September Jim Pouillon of Lansing MI was shot and killed in front of the school because he was pro-life. Last July in Illiniois a peaceful protester at an abortion clinic was deliberatly hit by a car driven by a clinic worker. Perhaps the most interesting recent story about violence against peaceful protesters is this one: http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/feb/10021702.html:
Carol's next claim is one that I was suprised anyone from Planned Parenthood (she claimed to be a member of PP) would make - she compared the pro-life movement to Hitler and his murder of 6 million Jews. Are people from Planned Parenthood that ignorent of their origins? Or does she hope that the rest of us are that ignorent.
One of the founders of Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, a strong advocate of eugenics and forced sterilization - something also favored by Hitler.. One of Margaret Sanger's goals was to eliminate people who she believed were "."socially undesirable." That included minorities, the disabled, and the poor. Sound familiar? At some point Margaret Sanger also added Catholics to her list of undesirables. I'm not asking you to believe me. Do a search on the internet of Margaret Sanger + eugenics, or Nazi, or quotes and see what you find.
If Planned Parenthood has changed from the goals of their founder they are going to have to explain why one of their highest honors is called the Margaret Sanger Award. Today 90% of unborn babies with Down's Syndrom are aborted. A higher percentage of African American babies die from abortion than white babies. In countries such as India it is estimated that millions of baby girls were aborted because they were girls and therefore undesirable. The list goes on and on. Margaret Sanger, and Hitler's, legacy is going strong.
For those who might be reading this that are in favor of abortion I'd like to ask something of you. Find out exactly what it is that you are supporting. Do some research on Margaret Sanger, read stories written by women who have had abortions (you can find them on the internet), educate yourself about how abortions are done. Know what it is that you are supporting.
For those who have had abortions and who are suffering as a result, please know that you are not alone. You are still a beloved child of God. Come home to Him. This lent you can approach one of your priests and ask for help. You can also find a list of places where you can get help on this website.
May God's love and mercy guide all of to Him this Lent and always.
peace,
Effie
Just for today I will be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be."
